| THE BARTZ FAMILY Mark and Renee have owned their dairy farm in West Central Wisconsin since 1975. They have five children; Emily, Jason, Tessa, Justin, daughter in law, Kate & Stewart, ranging in age from 30 to 15. They own 320 acres of land with 160 tillable acres. Crops raised include corn, hay, oats and soybeans to feed the livestock. They have a herd of 48 milking cows and 50 head of young stock. The children have an assortment of farm pets, which enables them to have a small petting zoo. The pets include a miniature horse, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, homing pigeons and cats. We do farm tours which allows others to see how our family farm is run. This is done to help get more information out to the general public about dairy farming. These need to be per-arranged in order to fit into our farming schedule. We also have a corn maze and give hay rides in the fall. Five years ago, we saw a need in our community to open a cheese shop to replace the one that had closed only months before. We started by carrying cheese and it has developed into a regular small store. We now carry a full line of dairy products, grass fed beef, lamb & goat meat, locally harvested maple syrup, wheat and honey, canned goods, baking supplies, ice cream, seasonal vegetables and crafts. Stop in and visit us if you ever get this way! |
